A 10-year-old schoolgirl who dreams of becoming an actress had a memorable day yesterday when she was embraced by Meghan Markle.

US actress Meghan Markle and her fiance Prince Harry met people in Birmingham to mark International Women's Day.

As Meghan chatted with some children, Prince Harry met 10-year-old Sophia Richards who told him she dreams of being an actress someday like Meghan. At this, Harry pulled her out from the crowd then took her to meet his wife-to-be who is a popular actress.

Sophia looked stunned as she met Meghan and chatted with her. She became the envy of her classmates after Meghan pulled her in for a hug.

Harry reportedly told Sophia: "You need to be confident and you can achieve whatever you want to achieve."

The schoolgirl, who is a pupil at the Oasis Academy Warndon in Worcester, called it a "dream come true" to meet Meghan, adding: "I will never forget this day."

She said afterwards: "Meghan told me that I can achieve whatever I want to achieve. And Meghan said she would like to see me on TV when I become an actress."
