DSTV: If Only I Were You

Episode 102 of Telemundo Africa's "If Only I Were You", swerved to a hot climax as Inés became rather inquisitive, on her rather second meeting with Humberto [whose speeding car nearly ran her over a few days earlier] – she wondered what his last name was!
This meeting was more or less a formality to amicably bring closure to a potential litigation against Humberto [over bad driving].

While Inés dismissed any intent to sue, Humberto felt almost embarrassed that he’d not formally introduced himself to Ms. Inés. Finally, he mentioned, “Humberto Fuentemayor” – only to stun Inés.

Of course it rang a gong, so to speak – her [supposedly drug-abusing] son had once mentioned that name. Standing right before Mr. Fuentemayor, in the lobby of an office, the words sent the modest woman on an avalanche of memories.
For her son, Leonardo-turned-Perico had on several occasions made the case to her that he was [and worked] with Fuentemayor.

Before her meeting with the very affluent businessman however, Inés had picked a bone with her son – over some powder she found him holding from a drawer. Of course they were drugs [cocaine] – as planted by his own father Elmer Homero Pérez "Chamoy" who at this point has managed to convince everyone the Amnesiac, Perico is a hardcore drug-abuser – an addict.

Chamoy has something new on his plate though – an unpleasant visit from his partner-in-crime, Ignacio. Their clandestine meeting not only had Chamoy admit that he’d had Perico’s psychologist resting-in-peace but they are now after her sister as well. His new assignment now is to follow closely, every single move of Daniela, who has recently been running detective errands for her best friend, Fernanda Manrique trying to get to the bottom of the in-workings of Ignacio’s racket.

Meanwhile Constanza "Connie" is torn apart about who to believe between the mother she doesn’t trust and the father who almost immediately rescinded the ugly [promiscuity] truth he had just disclosed to her about her mother…

Distressed Connie, while speaking to her friend, Nora, said she is resolved now to try to give her mother another chance, get along – apparently because her father’s last phone call had seemed rather sincere and remorseful.

Connie’s mother, on the other hand, is out on her “man-hunting” expeditions.

Rubén really doesnot know what to do with the older woman’s obsession. He is now oscillating between the girl he really loves and the haunts from a moment of weakness that happened months earlier – when he lay with a powerful married woman, Fabiola Carbajal.

She is not only blackmailing him, she is literally going after his girlfriend, Yesenia, belittling, bullying and intimidating.

After barely getting caught canoodling in Rubén’s house, Fabiola actually follows Yesenia – to her workplace, wielding an audio recording on which she had Rubén confess to their night of passion.

But she’s not going through with that so fast though. Before unleashing all that venom upon the poor girl, motor-mouthed Yesenia struck before she got struck – and she would have to thank her assertive self to thank for that. And of course, La Cocó…

Coco’s newly launched line of home-made beauty products and her salesmanship somehow netted the elegant Ms. Fabiola Carbajal as she went out tramping in the market, searching for her nemesis, Yesenia. She sat down for a facial treatment by the one-and-only Coco…

It didn’t go so well.

Coco was immediately anxious. But her customer’s mind set on something else didn’t mind not knowing anything else yet – lest her target [Yesenia, at the Piñata stall yonder] got out of sight. Well, she tipped Coco and scampered away…

She arrived at the Piñata stand on time and as she took to spewing trash, Yesenia was not even listening. She rather was amused and goggling. She glared even more… until she held out a mirror to her.

The high-society old woman learnt such absurdly that her facial had done her a major foul. Her face was all cracked and bruised. It had turned red, and as Coco pointed out to Terminator, she even developed a rash.
Coco is now afraid what wrath awaits her from the wealthy lady. She immediately nudged her associate, Terminator to help her out of the market. At home Coco is uncontrollably panicky – and as usual, that’s where Terminator, comes in.

Come rain, or shine or the FBI, he promised to fight and protect Coco, for the man [in love] that he is. For some reason, Coco felt rather happy to have his shoulder to cry on and lean on. And by happenstance, for the first time, she let herself loose for Terminator.

They made out briefly – erotically – until he reeled her off her feet and whisked her away to the bedroom.

If Only I Were You is a story about twin brothers, one rich and the other poor, who were separated at birth and reunited several years laters by fate. However their polar opposite lives are switched. Through this journey they search and discover themselves.
