British Singer Emeli Sande Receives Royal Honor At Buckingham Palace
Award-winning
British singer Emeli Sande on Thurday, February 8 was honored with an MBE [an honor
of Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, a grade within the
British order of chivalry]. This was in a ceremony with the Duke of Cornwall, Prince
Charles at Buckingham Palace.
In
her remark, the excited 30-year-old songbird posted to Instagram, overwhelmed
with thrill: “What an incredible day!!!!,”she wrote. “Being able to share it
with my family was a dream!”
She
continued: “Without their sacrifices, relentless hard work and support I
wouldn’t be here…walking into the palace with my Mum, Dad and Sis was
emotional! They’ve inspired me to believe that anything is possible and that
love truly conquers all. I thank God every day for them and for this incredible
journey.”
Then she
had a word for the rest of us too: “Never give up, dream as big as possible
...baby you’re made of stars don’t let no body tell you different x”
According
to ChronicleLive, the honor was granted to the star in recognition of her services
to music as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honors last year.
The
singer was born in Sunderland to a British mother and a Zambian-born father.
She spent
some time in her father’s home country before the family eventually settled in
Aberdeenshire, Scotland, when she was four.
Emeli has
gone on to conquer the British music industry and has had a string of hits
including two UK number one singles.
She
was named Brit Awards Critics’ Choice winner for 2012 and in the same year
performed at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London.
